Lake of the Springs - Day 5

Monday June 22nd – Day 5

Lake of the Springs Campground, Oregon House CA.

Today was kind of a nice slower moving day after covering all those miles yesterday. After breakfast in the patio we took a morning trip into the nearby “town” of Brownsville to get more food & supplies. Even though you could almost blink and miss Brownsville, the market there was surprisingly well stocked for such a small place. We even found our favorite and elusive green taco sauce.

Upon returning to camp we all headed straight for the pool and spent the entire day there. It was just what the doctor ordered! Swimming and napping poolside was the highlight of our day. The kids hardly got out of the water and even ate their snacks in the water refusing to get out. They were REALLY looking forward to swimming.

After having dinner Martha & Patty went to the laundry building and did a few loads of laundry while the kids joined a pick-up game of volleyball at the nice sand court they have here. While the ladies and kids were gone Jack and I had a chance to break out our guitars and have a little play time.

While Jack & I were sitting outside the campers, here came three deer that just strolled right into our camp seemingly unconcerned with our presence. The biggest one promptly stuck her head right into our trash can! It was an awesome sight and a special treat to get such a close encounter.
