Wednesday June 24th – Day 7
Lake of the Springs/CA to Gold Beach Oregon
Towing Miles: 433
Today we pulled out of camp at Lake of the Springs at 8am and finally arrived at our Oregon destination at 10pm at night. It was a very long day. Part of our time spent was on a mammoth shopping expedition at the Wal-Mart near Marysville. We spent over an hour there buying more supplies and things we wanted to use for the trip.
Other stops were also made along the way for gas, gas, and more gas! Sheesh you can burn a lot when towing a large camper. It was fairly slow going all day as we headed west on highway 20 to highway 101 north all the way up the California coast and through the redwood forest.
Our last stop was at the Crescent City KFC for dinner. It was already 8pm and we were a mere 30 miles from the Oregon border and about 75 miles from camp. We finally made our late check in at the campground and quickly set-up camp, and went straight to bed. It was more like passing out for me after being at red alert at the wheel all day long. I’ll have to wait until morning to see if the new laptop is here because the office is closed.
